Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI)
Interventions of therapeutic, rehabilitative, educational and recreational value that require the involvement of domestic animals. These interventions are designed to promote improvement in physical, social, emotional and/or cognitive aspects of the person(s) involved
Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT)
Interventions of therapeutic and/or rehabilitative value designed to promote improvement in physical, social, emotional and/or cognitive aspects of the person(s) involved. AAT requires the involvement of a multidisciplinary equipe made up of people with specialized expertise and purpose-trained and in which a the animal-handler couple is an integral part. The intervention may be group or individual in nature and the process should be duly documented and evaluated.
Animal Assisted Education (AAE)
Interventions of educational and/or re educational value, addressed to both healthy and disabled subjects and to people affected by behaviour disorder. The interventions are designed to promote improvement in the psychological, physical and social welfare of the person(s) involved. AAE requires the involvement of a multidisciplinary equipe made up of people with specialized expertise and purpose-trained and in which a the animal-handler couple is an integral part. The intervention may be group or individual in nature and the process should be duly documented and evaluated.
Animal Assisted Activity (AAA)
Interventions of recreational value, conducted on a more occasional basis, addressed to both healthy and disabled subjects, without specific objectives. The intervention may be group or individual in nature and the practitioner should be purpose-trained.
